Witches Makeup

Hello everyone!

As I mentioned in a previous post I was meeting Emma yesterday. I had a great time, she is really lovely and easy to talk to :).

She gave me a big bag of Halloween goodies that she'd won off Katy's Cosmetics for me to play with, which was very nice of her!

As you can see, when it comes to Halloween I try to go for a very subtle and sexy look :). It was very easy and great if you're on a budget! Here's how:
Face: Colour in your face with green face paint /eyeshadow. Contour your cheeks with a matte purple.
Eyes: Use a red eyeshadow to line your eyes so they look raw and horrible. Next get some fake blood and let it run from your eyes down your face!
Mouth: Rub black lipstick all over your teeth so they look rotten. Next line and fill in your lips with a black lipstick
Hair: I used a straggly wig that I had lying around from last year. I then just added in some 'cobwebs' and spiders.
Accessories/clothing. I'm not planning on wearing this tomorrow but if I was I'd wear a black dress from my closet, and then from the pound shop a hat and broom. You could also get black nails for long talons and put blood around the cuticles for extra grossness.

Final step: Grab a black cat and pull an ugly face!

Hope you have a great Halloween!

Go shawty it's your birthday

Ola my lovely ladies!
Thought I'd share some photos from my night out yesterday. It was my friend Ashley's birthday so we went to a pole dancing class and then clubbing afterwards. Pole dancing was actually so fun and I got a few good photos but alas I have been banned from letting them grace the Internet! I won best technical dancer too so I was really pleased woohoo.

Very fabulously I was given a bottle of Cava for winning so we planned to keep it classy and neck it back at my friend Roz's house before we went out. We didn't have time though so we'll be saving it for Halloween where we'll be dressing up as a human centipede.

If you ever go to Newcastle and don't really know the area then I'll quickly explain the dealio with the places we went so you can keep it in mind if you ever venture up!
If you are looking for cheap drinks and don't mind the place being a bit of a dive, then Gotham is not bad. Drinks are like £2.50 for trebles but it gets super busy and claustophobic if you go past 11pm, so we didn't stay there too long. We then went to Sinners (near the Gate) which plays dance and r'n'b music, that was also really cheap with Fosters £1 and skittles £1.50. We usually always go someone a bit naff first just to get a bit merry before the extortionate club prices begin (stingy students ftw). The review of Sinners on that linked website is really scathing but honestly it's always jam packed and it is cheap so perhaps they've changed their prices a bit now from when this was written?

As it was Ashley's birthday and she is a massive r'n'b kind of gal we went to Mood inside of the gate, it was £4 entry which isn't too bad. Have you ever seen the video for pretty fly (for a white guy) by the Offspring? The guy in that video is the best way to describe the cliental of Mood ;). Full of cheesy rap songs like 50 cent. Oh yes.

I had a really good time and it was really fun doing something new! I'm so bruised off the pole dancing but it was well worth it :).

Week In Photos

Me playing with my Molly doggy in the garden.
Don't worry I'm totally supporting myself otherwise her legs would have most definitely gave up there and then!

Brogan mercilessly piss taking my attempts of outfit posing for my other blog

 My beautiful baby Mil :)

Favourite photo in the world, my two favourite girls ever

What's in my fridge crib-style. Sadly it's just condiments and muffins.

Sweetie after being caught in the rain d'aww
Bargain hunting
A drawing Brogan my sister made for me out of chalk on my dressing table. So messy every time I lean forward to  do my makeup but I love it!

Keeping it fashionable in the Mountain household with a pair of pink reindeer pants. Oh yes.

River Island Rant

Ola everyone. How are you all today?
I wanted to talk about some shoddy service I have received in a bid to warn you off! I think it's important to share positive and negative opinions to suggest/warn off so the company in the firing line today is River Island online.

I used to love River Island a few years back, it was literally my favourite store ever. I stopped shopping in there though for a bit because every time I'd buy something it would ruin after the first wash. I was browsing through the website though when I came across a top in a sale to £20 that I loved. I was a bit worried about the material but I thought it was worth a risk. Postage was £3.95 which personally I think is quite steep but I couldn't find it instore and I felt like I deserved a treat so I sucked it up and paid. Stupidly I forgot that ASOS stocks River Island and they do free postage and 20% student discount, so I would probably keep to ASOS in the future anyway now!

So this top came and it was completely bobbled as well as faulty on the sleeves which was really obvious when I tried it on. I sent it back the next day quite gutted but I couldn't even exchange because that's not an option on the returns form, so if you want another in a different size or whatever you have to go back to the website, order it again in a different size, pay for postage again and by that time my size was sold out which was pretty frustrating.

So three weeks after I sent it back they finally credited my account again, and they didn't even refund my postage. I'd understand if I was just returning something because I didn't like it, but they sent me a faulty item and I don't see why I should be charged for their mistakes. I sent an email but have had no reply so far which is quite frustrating, but I'll let you know if they get back in touch. Otherwise I'd avoid River Island and stick to ASOS, which is a better service, free postage and you can usually find discount codes on there too. So there's my rant for the day! Have you got any experiences with their service? If so did you find them good?

Hair Extensions

I know I bought a pair of extensions a million years ago from Foxylocks, but I just finally put them in today and thought I'd show you the finished look.

I'll do a fully review when I've tested them out properly but to summarise my thoughts so far: colour selection is naff but the quality is totally worth it. They needed to be cut and styled to avoid looking obviously fake (even Imogen who owns the company layers her own extensions) but alas I have no hair skills. My Mam is a hairdresser but she hasn't done anything like that in years so influencing her to get the scissors back out is always difficult! After a bit of snipping I just used a tong to curl them a bit to meet the natural waviness of my hair and voila!

I really like the way they turned out but perhaps I'll tweak the bottoms in a bit, not sure yet!

P.S I made a new blog where I'm going to be posting all things fashion-y. The link is http://whatemmawore.blogspot.com

P.P.S I have took off the Disqus comments system because it kept crashing so I've lost all your comments from that time period. I think I answered all comments and questions but if you never saw a reply then just let me know :)!

New Look Knitted Cowl Stripe Dress

Howdy ya'll...
Thought I'd share with you this dress that I got in the sales recently. A bit 'Buy now Blog Later' without the same pizazz?

It's so cute, I got it from New Look for £12 (from £19.99) and think it's a lovely staple for the autumn/winter. I think it's quite flattering on the waist because the material isn't bulky at all, but on the flip side for the same reason I can tell it's not going to keep me very warm by itself.

Another thing I don't really like is how short it is. I'm only 5"2 and this is quite indecent without a thick pair or tights/leggings, so if you're any taller keep that in mind! Unless you like casual flash of an ass cheek, in which case this is perfect without tights haha. Still I really liked it as a nice piece of throwaway fashion, and I'm a sucker for dresses as well as the word "SALE", so alas I cannot say no to the two combined together.

I wore my new Miss Selfridge leggings today with it to see if they're any different in quality to the usual Primark ones. I'll give you my verdict after a few washes!

REVIEW: Groupon.co.uk

What is Groupon?
Groupon is a deal of the day website with huge discounts on a range of products and services. Everyday a new deal comes along so you’re bound to find something you like if you check back.

When you do, just buy the deal and you can usually redeem it anytime over the next few months. So for example, if you found a good deal for a local restaurant where a meal usually costing £40 was being offered for £10, you would pay £10 there and then on Groupon, you’d receive an email voucher to print off, and then you’d just take it to the restaurant for your free meal (as you’ve already paid) whenever you want.

 So what did I buy?
For me, I snapped up a deal which featured South West watches for £12 inc p&p, when their usual retail price is £33 p&p not included. 65% saving? Not bad.
I bought two of the white version as I think that will go with more in my wardrobe
Groupon vs. sales & offers in shops/ on websites
So what exactly makes this so different to just taking advantage of a normal discount anyway? After all the internet is swimming with reduced items on sale, and similarly there is a lot of competition in my local area so there’s always some sort of deal on most restaurants and services.

Firstly whilst my home town does offer deals (happy hours etc.), it’s nowhere near as cheap as the offers on Groupon. Also with Groupon there is a lot more leeway as most vouchers can be used at any time, rather than the typical awkward time slots that are usually available (who goes out for a meal to a restaurant at 3pm-5pm??)

Also and this is a sneaky reason, but if you see a lovely present for someone and you buy it on the internet, the chances are they’ll check out the website to see how much you spent. The great thing about Groupon is that the items are still full price on the sellers website (you just enter in a code at the checkout to make it free as you‘ve already paid for it through Groupon) unlike normal sales on shops and websites where the reduced price are there for everyone to see. That means you can use the money you saved to spend it on other things for that person making you look extra generous!

Who would I recommend this for?
Anyone who is a bargain shopper! Also if you’re stuck in a rut and fancy a new place or activity but don’t want to spend too much in case you dislike it, Groupon is a great idea.

Who would I not recommend this for?
Anyone who wouldn’t remember to visit a website every day to check out the daily deals. With this being said, you can get a newsletter sent to your email with the deal of the day which I find a lot easier than manually visiting the website. Also, most vouchers can’t be used until the next day so if you were wanting something new for that night, Groupon is out.
 Customer service
I was kindly given £20 credit to spend on the website, when all of a sudden it crashed and the money disappeared. Kate (the Groupon rep) was lovely, replied quickly and sent me another voucher no problem. Of course, she knew I was reviewing the service so I know a few quite rightly will be raising their eyebrows thinking ‘well of course she was bloody helpful!’. So when I had a problem with the actual South Lane website (not Groupon‘s fault) , I thought I would email the Groupon website for some advice rather than Kate to see what their customer service is like more generally.

Groupon have a system so that you can get an immediate acknowledgement that your request was received, with a warning it may take up to 7 days due to the vast amount of emails they get which I think is reasonable for such a big company. It took 3 days for a reply which I was happy about, and after that I received another email asking if my problem had been sorted out or whether I needed more assistance.
Overall opinion
So would I use this service again? Definitely! I find it really exciting to see what deals are on every day and think I could get quite addicted. The savings are great and I feel like there is a wide range to suit everyone with a bit of patience.
