My Inspiration: Katie Piper

If you've never heard of Katie Piper, she was an upcoming presenter and model when she met her cage fighter boyfriend Danny (pretty sure that was his name) through Facebook. Everything seemed fine at first, but after a few weeks of dating warning signs started to appear, as he became increasingly controlling and obsessive. She didn't fancy sex one night as they'd both been out and she was tired, so rather than accept it like any normal human being, he subjected her to a horrific rape and beating which was so violent she said she didn't think she'd make it out alive.

Afraid to leave her apartment, he bombarded her with messages demanding they meet up,that he was really sorry and only wanted to talk to her. Katie agreed to meet him in public when only a few steps out of her street sulphuric acid was thrown directly into her face. Danny had actually convinced one of his low life mates to wait outside her apartment until she appeared. Obviously, this caused a lot of scarring and ruined her chances of presenting ever again.

She decided to speak out about her ordeal through a documentary which I spent most of the time sobbing through. I've watched it 6 times and can't help but cry, but there's a lot more to her than just surviving this ordeal which makes her so likable because she has a fab personality which is completely addicting.

From the first minute of the documentary Katie is bubbly, fun and totally charismatic. I was hooked on her personality :) she looked on the bright side of things and made jokes about situations that would otherwise be really bleak. Also I loved how glamorous she was, you never seen a hair out of place, her clothes were all fab and she had an amazing figure I'd kill for. To me, she proves that if you're beautiful on the inside and you make the most of yourself, people will be attracted to you no matter your outer appearance. Having said this, when she applied makeup for the first time as she was heading out to a party she still looked lovely.

Another reason she's such an inspiration is that she took this bad experience and made it into something extremely positive by launching the Katie Piper Foundation. Please, please check it out :).

Day13- A Fictional Book

I love stories written in a first person; it's so much more effective (I think) at catching the perspectives of a character. Jim Thompson is AMAZING at this, especially 'Savage Night'. All the characters are bleak, cynical and so interesting. It's fairly violent and quite disturbing at times (potential rape scenes, violence against vulnerable women etc... urgh) but it's done in such a way that I couldn't help turning the pages. It's by far the best I've read of his works so far and he's generally a great pulp writer. It's fairly short as well so really worth checking out! I hope you do :) xxx

Ramble Ramble

Heyy guys! I'm going to be doing a typical what have I been up to blog today :). It's the 'whatever you fancy' tag part of my 30 day challenge, so the perfect chance to just update.

I've been busy reading Bobbi Brown's makeup books, I got the old and new one and have to say the newer one is a lot more in depth, so if you get a chance to pick one up I'd really recommend that.

My parents have been away on a cruise so I basically used the week they were away to sort myself out :'). I have loads of library fines and still haven't sorted out simple things like being underpaid at work urgh. I think I'm just overwhelmed by all the little things that I have to remember. I usually write it all down in my notebook but I lost it in my room for days, convinced I'm missing something important haha. My room is such a pigsty as well :(, I hate sitting in it at the moment and I would just clean it but I have no storage so I basically just move items to different places in my room for hours on end, and it still looks like shit :'). Does anyone have any storage tips?? I'm desperate! I would show you a photo but I think you'll never be able to view me in the same way again it's THAT bad.

To attempt to feel slightly better I booked a long awaited hair and dental appointment. I was convinced I needed a filling (ahh the shame) but it turned out I had a 'sinus infection'... not really sure what that means haha. Hopefully not actually serious or anything :'). The dentist is really good looking which makes it all the more mortifying... Does anyone else get like that? I know it shouldn't matter but it does! Especially since dentists always have lovely nice teeth which makes you kick yourself for being lazy and only flossing once a day instead of three times like they say. He kept on going on about how amazingly clean and healthy my teeth were though, but I do brush them 8 times a day (probably ruining the enamel completely I know) but I think I'm just over compensating for my addiction to all things sweet.

I also got my hair done today, I really like it :). I won't bore you with all the details though (haha, unlike my massive explanation of the dentist). I'm like those old ladies on the bus who tell you every minor detail about their trip to the shops.

Oooh btw, I just wanted to mention quickly why I haven't been making any YT vids recently.. One of the reasons is because blogging is just so much quicker and easier and I still get my fashion and beauty fixes. Also all the people I liked on YT (bar a few) that I talked to quite a bit through messaging have blogs as well, so I can still keep in touch :).

Another reason is that I've noticed how hateful YT can be. No one's said anything mean recently to me, it's just looking at other channels there's so much hate on them it's really offputting. Also it doesn't help that loads of naff websites have nicked my vids, including fetish websites yayy :/. Blonde hair seems to be a favourite, and since I've mentioned I have glasses I'm getting messages off this man all the time asking me to wear them. I wasn't sure if it was just an innocent q as I've never worn them in a vid, but I clicked on their profile and all their favourites were soft porn of girls wearing glasses. Also I've had requests to show my feet as well :'), where do these people come from?! Hahaha. Ah well, I'll probably get into the swing of things soon. I keep recording videos and then I just never edit or upload them :') silly really.

I think that's enough rambling, thanks for reading!

The 30 day challenge was going so well :'), but I've just went 2 days without updating, sorry everyone!

The two I missed out on was a photo of me from over 10 years ago, and a current photo. Unfortunately I can't seem to work my scanner, to add to my list of technology I completely fail at. I have a television, printer, scanner, the internet on my computer, a wireless television device and two digital cameras in my room... None of which I ever use as I have no idea how. It's honestly amazing that I've managed to work my digital camera and recorder first time round :'). So sorry guys, I'll have to miss out on that one!

I do have current photos saved on facebook though :). The most recent is this:

This is me and my mam on our makeover photoshoot day. I'll be making a post on that soon either on youtube or here, just in case you fancied one of these experience days yourself :)

GOSH @ Superdrug

Thanks so much for all the recommendations on some new cheap brushes that I could get :). After watching and reading a ton of reviews I decided I'll buy the eyeshadow brushes from ELF and spend a bit more getting some good quality face brushes. I checked out Superdrug online (click here to see) and seen the GOSH foundation brush had been marked down from £10 to £5. I've never had products from GOSH but I was playing with the tester brushes a few weeks ago and loved how soft they were, so I can't wait to try it out properly on my face. Not only that, but it's 3 for 2 on certain products, so I got 3 of those brushes for £10 wooo :).
I rang up my local Superdrug and the deal wasn't on there, so I'm not sure if its just on the net which is even better as it means everyone in the UK can take advantage of this deal, it's £3 for p&p which isn't bad either. Go grab yourself a bargain!

Monday, 23 August 2010

Hi guys, I thought I'd just quickly ask does anyone know where I can get decent makeup brushes from that aren't too pricey? I loved the Superdrug brush set which was something like £5 for tons of different brushes, and they were amazing too, but they don't make them anymore :(. I'm especially after a stippling, foundation and a blush brush. No mean feat huh? haha.

Also I just wanted to mention thanks so much for all the lovely support I'm receiving on my blog. I really want to figure out how to get notifications on new 'followers' so I can message to say thank you, but I can't get it to work :(. So in the mean time, I'll say thanks now :). Also, if you have a blog and I'm not already following you, let me know so I can check it out. Same goes with comments, some of you lovely girls leave such nice things which really makes blogging worth while. I'm really sorry if I don't reply to some of them though because I don't get notifications for these either so I have to open up each blog post to check.

Anyhoo,
Thanks in advance if anyone can help me out with brushes!

A photo I've taken

In true British fashion, I'm going to start this blog with a reference to the weather :'). I'm soaked after going to the dentist (ahhh the joys of public transport) and walking my Molly doggy, but I figured it's the perfect excuse to relax with a cup of tea and dedicate a little time to my blog.

Day 9 of the 30 day challenge is to update with a photo I've taken, so here it is:

This is my sister, Brogan, who I love to bits. We're suuuper close, probably because we shared a room for years and we have the exact same sense of humour :).

A few months back, she was ready to go out clubbing with her college friends when we decided to quickly get a photo. It didn't really work out though, as every time I tried to take it we'd end up bursting out laughing in eachothers faces. We must have had compulsive giggles over nothing for a good twenty minutes before finally giving up.

Anyway, I uploaded the photos off my camera one day and fell in love with this one. Since she's halfway through mid laugh this photo really captures her personality, which (to me) is a lot nicer than the typical standing-awkwardly-feeling-like-a-prat poses I'm so good at.

(BTW on a side note, I'm loving reading all these 30 day challenge posts on other peoples' blogs. They're fab and it really feels like I actually know them in real life which I don't think you get with other tags )

Hope you're all having a fab day with lots of nice sunshine :).
My parents texted when I was walking Molly to tell me they're currently on a beach in the Mediterranean basking in the sun. MUST BE NICE! haha.

Tag: Whatever Tickles Your Fancy

Sorry that I'm completing day 6 of the 30 day challenge on day 7 :(. The plan was to go see my friend's boyfriend play in a gig and then come home and write a blog, but I had six double vodkas there (special deal urgh...) so when I came in it was curry chips and straight to bed :'). Anyhoo, day six is whatever tickles my fancy and I've just been tagged to answer the qs below from Christina (who you can check out here). Thanks for the tag! Day 5 - Favourite Quote

"I only asked her to be a hooker, it's not like I asked her to be in telesales".

Little Primark Haul

A not-so-successful day at work seemed like the perfect excuse to a little trip to Primark and pick myself out a few goodies :).

(I'm using my new camera so bear with me until I get used to using it haha.)
I fell in love with this necklace - how cute?! It was only £2 as well so I'm really chuffed with it :).
I also picked up a pair of flat boots for the upcoming winter weather for only £15. They're a lot nicer in real life than in the photo, and they have really cute fur lining inside at the top. I've seen a few girls wearing them with cute socks poking through at the top, so I might get some of them to go with these boots, although I have no idea what colour or style yet haha.

I also decided to try out the new leggings which were 2 for £5. I wore a pair today - all I can say is thank god I always wear dresses with them otherwise everyone would have been exposed to a sexy butt crack all day long haha. They seem naff quality but hey what can you expect at £2.50 a pop :').

Favourite Book

Without a doubt my favourite book has to be Dolores Claiborne by Stephen King. He's more well known for his scary books such as Carrie and Misery (both good films too, especially Misery - the woman who plays her is EXACTLY how I imagined in the book.. really scary!) but Dolores Clairborne isn't anything like that.
The full novel's from the point of view of a house keeper (Dolores), who is trying to clear her name against the allegation she's responsible for the death of her boss. Anyway, she ends up confessing to another murder in the mean time whilst proving her innocence for another. It's such a sad book I actually cried haha. I love the character and became totally hooked reading it :).
Stephen King always gets a lot of criticism for being a naff writer, but at the end of the day if you enjoy a book who cares if it's not full of over the top sentences about how pretty nature is etc. ;) I have to read some many books like that on my English course at Uni, which don't get me wrong is really interesting, but it's just nice sometimes to read a straight forward book without having to look for hidden meanings all the time.
Anyhoo, I hope you give this book a chance :)

New Camera

Hi guys! Hope you're all doing well and having a more sunnier summer that I'm currently having ha ha. It started off really nicely so after I finished working out I got washed and ready, met up with my boyfriend and decided to walk up to town. It takes about an hour, so by the time we got there it was already close to raining :').

I went into Argos and bought this beauty:It's 14MP and £69.99 which is really good. I used to just use my mobile for taking photos when I was out and about, but it broke and the camera on my new phone is proper naff :( so even though this was pretty indulgent I will at least use it quite a bit. I also bought this beautiful piece of jewellery from Warren James for £57 from £114 so I'll take a photo of it once I get the hang of my camera for sure.

I don't usually spend that much money on Jewellery but I keep buying high street and then it goes really rusty after one use :(. So I thought from now on for special occasions I'll buy real jewellery which is likely to last a lot longer (I hope!). The necklace is 9ct and covered in crystals - I can't wait to wear it! My parents are giving me it at Christmas or my birthday which is quite a while away but I don't mind one bit. I could easily afford to buy it now for myself but when you wait for something (and someone else you love buys it for you) it's more special than just buying it yourself and wearing it straight away. I'll take a sneaky picture first though before I hand it over ;).

I also went out for a meal and nearly had a sugar over dose on the cookie dough cheesecake dessert. I literally couldn't finish it even though it was a little piece haha (this is unheard of for me when it comes to a dessert!) and even though it probably has a million calories it was worth it.

Favourite TV Program

Hi guys :),
Day 3 of the thirty day challenge is to write about my favourite TV show. It has to be Peep Show - it's absolutely hilarious. I can literally cry at laughter through some of the episodes. I love watching things that make me laugh - it always puts me in a great mood. If you've never seen it Wikipedia sums it up well:

"Peep Show follows the lives of two men in their late twenties and early thirties, Mark Corrigan (Mitchell), employed as a loan manager, and Jeremy Osbourne, an unemployed musician (Webb). The pair met at the fictional Dartmouth University, and now share a flat in Croydon, South London.

Mark is a loan manager at the fictional JLB Credit, and is financially secure, but awkward and socially inept, with a pessimistic and critical attitude. Jeremy, having recently split up with his girlfriend Big Suze, now lives in Mark's spare room. He usually has a much more optimistic and energetic outlook on the world than Mark, yet his self-proclaimed talent as a musician is yet to be recognised, and he is not as popular or attractive as he would like to think himself, although he is the more successful with the opposite sex of the two."

You can watch it on Youtube for free so check it out for sure if you haven't already! :)

Another Fab Blogger

Hiya everyone :),
you might remember I posted a list of my top bloggers a little while back (which you can view here), and I now have another blogger to add to that list.

Her name is Christina Marie (view her lovely blog here) and I love her posts. There's quite a few makeup looks which are really pretty, great if you want some inspiration. Not only that but she updates with personal posts which are so fun to read, some of which are really touching :).

Tuesday, 10 August 2010

Heyy guys, today I went shopping in my local town and found some great finds I thought I'd share. I went with my Mam which was nice, firstly we went into Argos and I bought this double bed cover for only £5.99. How fab is that?! I already have a gorgeous cover which is white with gold and chocolate panels covered in beautiful sequin work, but this is a great basic. I love my other one but I'm really clumsy (food, makeup, the list of staining potentials are endless!) and (sorry to be crude) but the colour white and that time of the month don't exactly go hand in hand. I just bought my new bed though, so in all my excitedness didn't consider these VITAL points, ahaha. Also silly me didn't think blowing tons of money on one bed cover means I have to wash it during the day and hope it dries in time for the night :'), so this was the perfect cheap find. The next item I got was from JJB sports where I can't help but feel slightly robbed. £27.99 for a sports bra?! However, as my boobs are basically an uncatered for size (32 A) and running about exercising causes A LOT of pain when they suddenly gain a mind of their own, I sucked it up and paid. It does seem to keep them in place though and sometimes you pay for what you get :).

The next thing on my wish list has been an electric toothbrush. Everybody I know who has that gleaming Hollywood smile (without the use of bleaching) recommended one of these bad boys so that pretty much swayed me to change over. This was only £9.99, a fraction of the price of the other ones featured in Argos, it's rechargeable and I compared it to my Dad's expensive one and it's near exact.
Finally I bought two pairs of knickers from New Look. I swear by this shop because the sizes are dead on and I hate getting knickers back which either make my legs look like saveloy's, or worse make me look like I've soiled myself from the back because they're so big. Wow I'm full of sexy images today haha. I got the pair below; they're a white lace with a purple trimming and a sequined butterfly on the top corner - adorable. I also got them in a nude colour which is slightly more sexy.I was also on the look out for some jeans but as I'm a petite size 12 this is near impossible :'). I love River Island for jeans but somehow even the petites were too long for me! I'm 5"2 so I'm not exactly tiny (I tell myself....); if any ones around a similar height please let me know where you get your jeans - I'm at such a loss!
I also went to a pub called Kirks near where I live for dinner. It's really cheap (two can dine for £5.99) but the whole pub was freezing, the meal took 45 minutes and it was really naff, but what can you expect for those prices. The man next to us was so drunk (it was only 2pm! haha) he was talking to himself the whole time and could barely stand up. At one point he had a 20 minute conversation with his bag so it was pretty hard to keep a straight face. Anyhoo, I came home, had an indulgent bath and sat on the Internet instead of actually tidying my room which is a right state. My boyfriend is staying for a week from Friday because he's waiting to move into a new flat, so really I should be getting on with that. I have a delightful day of work to look forward to first though -.-, I'll try not to have too much fun though as you know how rowdy these office jobs can get haha :').
Ciao for now

Summer Shopping

Hey guys! I'm all bunged up in bed with a cold and thought I should update my much neglected blog. My grandparents from Birmingham were up visiting so I've been spending a lot of time with them and just generally enjoying the summer holidays!

(The main beach where I live, perfect for a nice walk with a bag of fish and chips)

Thought I'd mention a few updates:
*I've been exercising 3 times a week for over a month now and I'm finally starting to see results. I haven't lost much weight since I didn't change my eating habits, but I'm definitely looking a lot more toned and feeling a lot better. I've just started with the healthy eating so I'll let you know how that goes!

* My friend is having a BBQ at her house to celebrate her 20th birthday on Friday which I'm really excited for. I got her this eyeliner from MAC which you can get here I rarely use black eyeliners because I think they're way too harsh for somebody with fair features like myself, but my friend has really dark eyes so this will be perfect for her!

I also got her this quirky bird cage necklace from Dorothy Perkins (website here). I adore the jewellery in there and there's so much choice.

* I'm having a makeover on Saturday, part of mine and my Mams' Christmas present.

I hope it goes well, I've heard they're super pushy for trying to make you spend £2000 (?!) extra on photos. Think I'd rather go on a nice holiday haha. Has anyone been on one of these packages where they live? Let me know how it was for you if you have - that'd be fab! Hope you're all doing well!
